Farm scene at Te Oranga
Te Oranga is a small New Zealand farm with holiday accommodation on site especially for travellers who would like to briefly experience life on a New Zealand farm.

Some livestock Te Oranga is a classic New Zealand
"10 acre block", a small farm situated in central Northland on the north eastern slopes of Whatatiri Mountain, a low volcanic cone, 15 mins / 17 kilometres - west of Whangarei.

Te Oranga is less than an hour's drive from either the east coast or the west coast beaches of central Northland. Notable Northland attractions such as the Matakohe kauri museum, the Kauri Forests, Kai Iwi lakes, the Kaipara harbour, and the Bay of Islands are all comfortable day trips from Te Oranga.

The studio Te Oranga runs the usual array of New Zealand farm animals (ducks, hens, pigs, cattle, sheep) and has a tamarillo orchard and a small cut flower unit in operation.

There is also a pottery studio on
Te Oranga, EarthBound Potteries.
This is the workshop of New Zealand artist / potter Janet Hyde. Pottery tuition is usually available if arranged at the time of booking accommodation.

Kayla in the studio The Te Oranga farmstay holiday accommodation is a "No Frills", self catering unit. It is spacious and pleasant; in an open planned area on the floor above the pottery studio. There is a semi partitioned dormitory with beds one end and a living area with basic kitchen needs at the other end.
Linen and bedding are supplied for up to seven people.
The kitchen, dining table, and lounge area with TV are at the other end. Downstairs there is a shower and toilet .

A class in process Rates for 2006:

Only pre booked guests are accepted.
and a minimum stay of two nights is required
$60 per head for two nights then
$25 per head each night thereafter

With dinner provided:
a further $20 per head
with all meals supplied
a further $25 per head per day

Weekly rates / or 'off season' family concessions maybe available upon request.

Other activities which can be arranged for visitors staying at Te Oranga include, horse riding, fishing, tramping trips, possum hunting, painting & drawing, pottery, bonecarving and teddy bear making. Arrange for these at time of booking accommodation.
